To celebrate the 2012 Playing For Change Day, the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) partnered with a number of local filmmakers, musicians, and students to make our own video in the style of the Playing For Change “Songs Around The World” series. We chose to feature the song “Be In Love” by Portland’s own Dominic Lavoie (www.shashashamusic.com). In conjunction with the video MAMM hosted the second annual “Playing For Change ~ Playing For Maine”, a series of local concerts in some of Portland’s best live music venues, all to raise awareness about the value of music education in the lives of young people around the globe.
We would like to thank David Meiklejohn (producer), Jim Begley (mixing engineer), Adam Ayan (mastering engineer), all of the participating musicians and filmmakers, and our video sponsors: Asylum, Brian Boru, Dogfish Bar & Grille, Gritty McDuff’s, and Portland Lobster Company.
