Andreas Witez compared the magnetic pickups from the JTV with the Strat and Les Paul modelling sounds from JTV and Variax 500.
At the end of the video he plays 2 JTV acoustic guitar sounds and the same on the Variax 500.
Observations:
– JTV singlecoils sound brighter than the model sound
– JTV Strat model has some weird transient spikes so that my stompbox compressor has problems
– JTV humbucker is softer than the Les Paul model and not as ‘fat’
– acoustic sounds on JTV (V1.9) is way better than Variax 500
No EQ was used, just some limiting on the sum. The acoustic sounds are completely dry.
